Two of Australia’s favorite cooks, Adam Liaw and Poh Ling Yeow, join forces to explore their Malaysian heritage in a flavor-filled, laugh-out-loud adventure through Adam and Poh’s Malaysia in Australia, premiering on Thursday October 7 at 8:30 p.m. on SBS Food. .

Malaysia, like Australia, is an electrifying mix of cultures, ethnicities and flavors. So, sharing both Malaysian heritage and Australian upbringing, the two friends hit the road to explore what makes these two countries such good friends and find inspiration for Malaysian dishes here on home soil.

Much of Malaysia and Australia’s long and friendly history revolves around food, but Adam and Poh discover through six episodes that there’s much more to the relationship than laksas and lattes.

Adam and Poh are on a mission to source the freshest Australian produce, from Tasmanian abalone and western rock lobster, to recreate much-loved Malaysian classics such as juicy beef rendang and crispy roti canai. Along the way, they’ll benefit from expert advice from local farmers, Malaysian expats and even a Hollywood superstar, to serve mouth-watering Malaysian dishes with a unique Aussie twist!

Adam Liaw said: “It’s the first time Poh and I have been on camera together, so doing this series has been a lot of fun, but it’s also a great opportunity to highlight the links between Australia and Malaysia, two nations that share such a long history and are so special to both of us.

Poh Ling Yeow said, “We have such great products here in our own backyard, but what always amazes me is how even the smallest of places can create delicious experiences. Together, Adam and I are hitting the road to find inspiration for Malaysian cuisine here in the place we call home.

Adam and Poh’s Malaysia in Australia is an i8 Studio production for SBS and is part of the Australia now Malaysia program. Premiering October 7 at 8:30 p.m. on SBS Food, the series will also be available post-air on SBS On Demand.

The series will be available to stream on SBS On Demand with subtitles in five languages: Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean, enabling more Australians to participate in our diverse programming.
